近年来,随着我国电视艺术的蓬勃发展,中国电视金鹰奖组委会不断适时地对评奖工作进行调整,努力使评奖工作符合时代和电视艺术发展的要求。在技术手段(?)面,组委会敏锐地意识到网络发展的可观前景,于1997年第16届开始,率先开展观众网上投票,进一步扩大了观众参与的渠道;在评选对象和组织形式上,第18届金鹰奖增设了电视广告类评奖,使中国电视金鹰奖成为涵盖门类更为全面的国家级电视艺术大奖。同时授权中国视协电视剧、电视文艺、电视纪录片、电视美术和电视广告等五个专业委员会组织评奖初评和单项奖评选,组织形式更为规范。
