南京地区位于北亚热带,气候温暖多雨,植被为常绿阔叶林一落叶阔叶混交林.按照土壤地带性理论,该地区土壤为黄棕壤.其中发育在下蜀黄土上者称为粘磐黄棕壤,发育在酸性母质上者称为黄棕壤.但对本区紫色砂页岩、石灰岩、角页岩等基岩风化物上所发育的土壤的性质及其分类问题则研究较少.我们于1932年应邀参加了南京市土壤普查办公室组织的南京地区土壤考察,并采集了几个剖面样本进行分析研究,现就其基本性质及分类问题进行探讨.一、成土条件与土壤形态特征本文所研究的几种土壤均在南京丘陵地区,它们是:(1)发育在紫色砂页岩上的N3号土壤,母岩中含有云母,属三迭纪黄马青群,剖面位于浦口区顶山公社西庄;(2)发育在硅质灰岩上的N4号土壤,位于江浦县汤泉公社城西大队;(3)发育在角
