《红楼梦》是世界文学殿堂里的著名宏篇巨著。传说这部奇书原本刻在大荒山无稽崖青埂峰下的一块石头上。这石头是女娲补天时遗下的一块顽石,经一僧一道的点化而幻入人世,历尽沧桑而复归。后有空空道人偶经此地,见石上“字迹分明,编述历历”,便抄录下来,使之得以问世。又经曹雪芹“披阅十载,增删五次,纂成目录,分出章回”,撰成今日之《石头记》,即《红楼梦》。既然《红楼梦》的故事是从石头上来的,要是再把它刻回到石头上,此举岂不别有意义和情趣?家住长春市的彭祖述老人用10年时间,跋涉近20万公里,寻来82块宝石,镌刻下了《红楼梦》,使几百年前的神话变成了令人称奇的现实。
