OBJECTIVE: To observe a new model of peripheral blood cell infiltration in human renal allograft recipients infected with human cytomegalovirus (Human Cytomegalovirus HCMV). Methods: In this study, HCMVpp65 antigen analysis, real-time PCR, flow cytometry and other technologies were used. Results: Several pp65-positive CECs were found in a proteinaceous material surrounding and adhering to many leukocytes. The composition and function of this protein-like substance is not yet clear. The presence of CEC in the peripheral blood of the patient indicates that the blood vessel is damaged, and the percentage of CD4 + and CD8 + lymphocytes in the patient is outside the normal range. HCMV DNA was positive in plasma, peripheral leukocytes and urine, but the patient did not have any significant symptoms of HCMV disease. Conclusion: The relationship between HCMV infection and CEC formation needs further study.
