访问学者,我总不免有几分拘谨,担心提问幼稚,会被对方视为无知而不屑深谈;若自己偶有一管之见,则又易被认为狂妄而惹人生厌。怀着这种复杂的心情,在今年春雪消融的一个晴朗日子里,我鼓足勇气敲开了姚汉源教授家的门。走进客厅,我仿佛置身于一间旧书店。四周的书橱上各类图书杂陈,既有古版的线装书,也有精装的外文书,墙角里堆放着厚厚一摞报纸杂志,窗前书桌上是一摊凌乱的文稿。斗室中除书报外别无壁饰,足见主人是一位书癖。当时姚老正伏案奋笔疾书,在为《中国大百科全书》审订有关水利史条目。先生今年已74岁,鹤发童颜,身板硬朗,笑容可掬,平易近人。一种安适之感驱走了我多余的顾虑,紧张心情也逐渐消失了。
