在日常的秘书工作中,我们常见到一些不合乎逻辑的现象。一天,M秘书送一份材料给领导参考,领导看后说;“材料中的统计数字可能有水分。”(a)并问M秘书:“你说是不是?”M秘书想;统计数字是我到有关部门作过核对的,都有真凭实据,根本不存在“桌面上出世”的估计数,何来水分?但又觉得,在领导面前说话还是婉转点好,于是作了如下回答:“材料中的统计数字可能没有水分。”(b)M秘书的用心是不难理解的,但是,领导听了回话后,不自觉地置之一笑。领导为什么笑呢?这种实例外国也有。美国作家马克·吐温有一次在回答记者提问时,不高兴地说了这么一句话:
In daily secretary work, we often encounter some illogical phenomena. One day, Secretary M sent a piece of information to the leadership for reference. The leader said after reading it: “The statistics in the materials may have moisture.” (A) And asked M Secretary: “Do you mean?” M Secretary wanted; statistics When I checked with the relevant departments, there was mere factual evidence that there was no such estimate as “born on the desktop.” However, I felt it was still a bit better to speak in front of the leadership and replied: “Materials There may be no water in the statistics. ”(B) It is not hard to understand the intention of secretary M, however, and the leader unconsciously laughed when he heard the reply. Why do leaders smile? This example is also foreign. When American writer Mark Twain once replied to a reporter’s question, he was unhappy to say such a sentence:
