每一个试验因素都会有多个处理水平.这些不同的处理水平,有时表现为许多不同的类别,有时表现为一系列的数量变动.由于数量的变动是连续性的,所以从理论上讲,在某个数量范围内的数量处理,可以有许多甚至无限个处理水平.而实际工作中只能对少数的处理水平进行试验,然后应用方差分析的成对比较法判别各个水平的优劣.但是,当我们要从这些少数处理的试验信息来推论整个处理范围内的处理效果时,就必须采用方差分析的趋势比较法.
