白头白嘴病是危害夏花鱼种的严重病害之一。它发病快,来势猛,一日之间可使成千上万尾夏花草鱼死亡。5月下旬到7月上旬是流行季节,6月是发病高峰。草、青、鲢、鳙、鲤等鱼苗和早期夏花鱼种都有发生,尤其对草鱼苗危害最大。我省各地均有发生。白头白嘴病的症状是:在鱼池岸边观察水面浮动的病鱼,能明显见到“白头白嘴”症状,若将病鱼捞出水面观察,症状反而不如在水中明显。病鱼自吻端至眼球的一段皮肤溃烂,失去正常的颜色而变成乳白色,唇肿胀,口张闭失灵而造成呼吸困难,个别病鱼因颅顶和眼眶周围有充血现象而呈现“红头白嘴”症状。用显微镜检查病鱼嘴圈刮下物,可见集群成堆、左右摇摆的粘细菌。鱼患白头白嘴病,一是与饲料不足有关。在鱼苗下池20天以后,如不及时分池,就容易发生
