目前,贫血仍然是一个主要的全球性公共卫生问题。全球约1/4人群不同程度地受着贫血的困扰,尽管各国政府组织及非政府组织都采取了口服补铁和食物强化等措施来控制缺铁和贫血,但结果不尽人意,很多地区缺铁和贫血仍在流行,要达到控制并非指日可待。贫血影响机体的精神状态、生理活动及工作能力,并使机体对感染的抵抗力下降,年龄不同,影响程度不一。其中,妇女和儿童作为易感性最高的群体,生存质量受到极大破坏。
