清朝末年,创办学堂、推广学校已成大势所趋。商科作为新兴学科,已然在各学科门类中占有一席之地。壬寅癸卯学制虽然对商科的地位和作用给予了高度重视,但没有严格而准确的定义,存在学理讲求不足的问题,不利于实行规范化管理。而壬子癸丑学制、壬戌学制、戊辰学制的相继出台,使商科的地位得到了巩固,对山西商科的发展产生了深远的影响。
