玉米穗上部籽粒在进入干物质积累盛期之前经常不实。这些籽粒重量减少从而最终不能形成可收获的籽粒产量。进入干物质积累盛期的穗上部籽粒一般要比中、下部籽粒晚授粉2~4。天因为它们干物质积累率降低和积累时间缩短,故成熟时粒重较低。最近研究表明,7个自交系和15个杂交种的不实籽粒幅度为0.6~12.4%,每株可能减产6%。如了解了穗上部籽粒不能正常发育的原因就可增加穗粒数和穗粒重。 The upper ear of the ear of corn is often false until it reaches the peak of dry matter accumulation.
