历代词论中对于苏东坡词的评价，是我国古代文学理论审美观照发展历程的一束折影。两宋时期，由持论各异到褒扬之声占主流地位；南宋末暨金源，显露出词派论评端倪，有“豪放”并驾“婉约”曲体拓宽词作发展创造空间的理论见解，昭示苏词“以诗为词”的创造意义；发展到明清，在偏重词派评论的基础上，步入“正”、“变”论辩，与诗、骚传统内在沟通，揭示出东坡词儒化的现实意义。“东坡词论”绵延数百年，日趋切要，既是苏词本身的意义决定，更反映出文学审美观念历史形成的漫长曲折，我们的民族同样富有理论思维的审美创造能力。
