Objective To investigate the relationship between Helicobacter pylori, Chlamydia pneumoniae, Treponema pallidum infection and cerebral infarction. Methods Helicobacter pylori, Chlamydia pneumoniae and Treponema pallidum were detected in 245 patients with cerebral infarction and 250 healthy controls. Results The infection rates of Helicobacter pylori, Chlamydia pneumoniae and Treponema pallidum in patients with cerebral infarction were 76%, 63% and 13%, respectively, which were significantly higher than those in the control group (21%, 33% and 1%, P <0.05). Conclusion Helicobacter pylori, Chlamydia pneumoniae and Treponema pallidum infection may increase the risk of cerebral infarction.
