在研究过去社会的性质和构成时,人骨遗骸被看作是极具价值的信息来源,人体遗骸的仔细发掘、精心修复和准确鉴定都能提供宝贵的信息。为了说明如何在中国西南地区进行全面的人骨研究,2007年夏天我们研究鉴定了金沙遗址发掘出土的少量人骨标本,包括出自黄忠小区工地的4个基本完整的人体骨架和5个不完整的人体遗骸牙齿标本(下面以其墓号中数字部分为人骨编号)。临近工作尾声又获得金沙附近的新一村遗址出土的2个头骨标本(编号为S大、S小)。
