风险投资是一种以私募方式募集资金,以公司等组织形式设立,投资于未上市的新兴中小型企业(主要是新兴高科技企业)的一种承担风险、索求高回报的投资形式。其特点是高风险、高收益。承担较大风险、提供长期股权投资,培育企业快速成长以实现资本升值,待若干年后企业上市或发生兼并时撤出投资,取得高资本收益。风险投资在现代经济发展中起着举足轻重的作用。它通过加速科技成果向生产力的转化,推动了高科技企业从小到大、从弱到强的长足发展,进而带动了整个经济的蓬勃和兴旺。人们将风险投资誉为“经济增长的发动机”。中国要实现对传统产业的改造,迎接WTO的到来,必须要依靠科技创新;中国要寻求新的经济增长点,迎接知识经济时代的挑战,也要依靠科技创新,而科技的创新离不开风险投资的健康发展。
