中国的扇子驰名中外,至今已有三、四千年的历史。早在殷周之时,扇子的制做多以羽毛为原料,主要用于帝王的仪仗和装饰,亦可障尘蔽日。春秋战国时代,随着我国丝织手工业的发展已制有“纨扇”。南齐时,随着造纸技术的发明,“折扇”的使用日益广泛,普遍用于消暑纳凉,制扇工艺也越加精湛。历代许多名人的诗词、书画更为扇子增添了艺术的魅力,形成独特的“扇文化”。
