小说《竞选州长》摆着两种人物语言。一是竞选者“我”马克·吐温的,一是他的对手伍德福·霍夫曼的。它们是性格化的语言。中学语文课教这类人物语言,除以一般句子对待外,还要特别注意它的表现形式,研究选择词语。运用语调、变换句式、讲究表达方法等。从而在落实语言教学同时,去认识人物,了解人物的生活经验、教育特点、气质心理,思想性格等。从同一件事上,看不同的人物语言,就会更清楚,更有对比性,《竟选州长》几乎通篇都有这类例句。“伪证罪”一例,就是两种语言的对比。
