商城县汤泉池温泉,在90 m×60 m内有八个泉眼。1972年建鲇鱼山水库,修了二个集水塔。汤泉池温泉是一个受北东向汤泉池断裂与南北向扎皮沟断裂交互控制的断裂循环型地热资源,热储层为埋深400 m以下的构造角砾岩、碎裂岩,热储盖层为400 m以上的断层泥和由断层泥(少量风化围岩、粘土)胶结的碎裂岩,热储层阻水边界,北部为中元古界新湾组片岩,南部为燕山期花岗岩。地热水沿热储层中的花岗岩脉、硅化饰变岩脉上涌形成泉群。现在开发的一号集水塔,涌水量约180 m3/d,已不能满足多功能利用的需要,按地质条件分析,具有开发潜力。
