主持人语:进入21世纪,视觉图像研究在如火如荼的文化研究中令人瞩目。无论是以图像作为研究对象,还是以图像来阐释历史和文本,甚或成系统的视觉图像理论,在21世纪之后的第一个十年,国内外学者在该领域的研究中均取得了可喜的成绩,这与当下由网络、影视等媒介而主导的读图时代不无关联。同时,也从文化研究的角度,极大地拓展了文学研究的视阈。其实,随着印刷出版技术的进步,自晚清开始,视觉图像文本便大面积普及开来,不过早期均以手绘为主,最典型的便是《申报》《新闻报》等大报副刊上每天一幅的漫画,以及各类画报的大量出现,比如《点石斋画报》。
