在高炉炼铁工艺中,喷吹煤粉是普遍采用的措施。氧-煤喷吹技术在前面已经介绍过。对气相输煤条件进行改进后,在煤枪的前端便可依靠煤粉的自燃烧直接进行氧化反应。蒂森克虏伯钢铁公司的所有高炉已全部采用了这种工艺,在保证高炉高利用系数的条件下,达到了焦比300kg/t、煤比175kg/t的水平。为促进氧化反应,煤粉在进入风口之前进行了预热,2000年Schw e lgern公司1号高炉第20~40号风口的煤粉喷吹采用了这种煤粉预热技术,其余的20个风口的煤粉喷吹于2004年底也采用了该技术。
