He started teaching and researching economics in 1958 after receiving his Ph.D. from Columbia University. His research focuses on three areas: general equilibrium theory; uncertainty economics and information economics; econometrics and statistics. His main interest is in uncertainty economics. In his view, uncertainty is the essence of people’s daily life, there is no uncertainty, there is no difference now and in the future. Thus, the analysis of uncertainty is an important aspect of economic analysis, the general equilibrium theory needs to be based on uncertainty. This article will discuss Dreitz’s contribution to the field of uncertainty economics.
