Designing a wide variety of bridges in open areas is very difficult to ensure the symmetry of this group of bridges, even for those who have a sense of art. In order to solve this difficulty, this article introduced a kind of art design method. A morphological similarity was found between the stone walkway in a traditional Japanese garden and a bridge deck of different bridge types, providing clues to the bridge’s art design. The principle applied in the coordinated stone walk can actually serve as the principle of bridge art design. This article explains the elements of creation and discusses the design steps in detail. Under construction, Kojima - Sakamoto line, the actual design of the state - Shikoku bridge applied the method recommended in this article. Several new types of piers, pylons, which were designed using the recommended method, were compared with the general piers, pylons schemes in the early design of the Honshu-Shikoku Bridge Bureau.
