目前,我国中板轧机压下装置基本上仍为传统的电动压下,它存在着惯性大、定位精度差、频带宽度小等缺点。而液压压下系统则具有惯性小,定位精度高、频宽大等优点。因此,将旧式轧机改造成液压压下自动微调偏差控制系统,对于提高成品质量、减轻操作工人的劳动强度具有重大意义。为进一步实现计算机控制奠定了必要的基础。
