The authors established a method for the qualitative and quantitative analysis of the major components of Hypericum perforatum in multiple preparations by HPLC-ESI-MS. This method is simpler than HPLC-MS and has more specificity and sensitivity than HPLC-UV. HPLC analysis was performed using a Waters Alliance 2690 separation system, Luna phenyl. hexyl column (150 mm×4.6 mm, 5 μm) and equipped with a guard column of the same material with a column temperature of 36°C.
