作者利用一株对β-内酰胺类抗生素超敏感的大肠杆菌突变株PG-8及绿脓杆菌突变株PsC~(ss)从细菌筛选得到一种新的β-内酰胺类抗生素——磺酰胺菌素(Sulfazecin,G-6302),本文介绍了磺酰胺菌素的发现,生物活性以及产生菌的分类特性等。产生菌分离自日本金川县土壤,对变株PG-8及PsC~(ss)的抑制作用比对它们的亲株要强得多,在其作用下能使大肠杆菌的亲株LD-2的细胞拉长和膨胀。通过其形态观察、生理生化测定以及生长考察,认为属于氧化酶阴性假单孢菌,带有单生鞭毛,由于其嗜酸性质(最适生长pH为4.5-6.5),定名为嗜
