在对淋水室的设计和研究中,一般以均匀流动的空气与喷雾水滴进行热湿交换为前提。淋水室中出现旋涡,被认为是有害的。但是,使用轴流风机的淋水室,实际上存在着旋转流动的气流。因为空气是与风机同轴方向推进的,它会使在有限空间向前流动的空气也呈旋转态势。把大部空气挤压向侧壁,而中间呈负压状态,加上挡水板的阻挡,会使旋转气流的一部分旋回,例流向风机。这种情况实际上破坏了常用的计算条件,造成使用轴流风机的淋水室实际效果与设计有一定误差。
