国际奥委会和汉城奥运会组委会已批准1988年奥运会奖章、纪念章设计图案。运动员奖章的正面仍采用1928年阿姆斯特丹奥运会以来一直延用的图案,只是将年代改为“1988”。奖章的背面采用汉城奥运会专用的设计图案:一只和平鸽嘴里衔着一支月桂树叶。之所以选择月桂树叶,是因为古希腊人曾用月桂树叶编成冠冕,授予竞赛的优胜者。选择和平鸽象征着和平和希望。主办者担心这届奥运会出现前两届奥运会时联合抵制的现象。明年奥运会共准备奖章1850枚,其中600枚金牌。此外还为运动员及有关人员准备了18000收纪念章。纪念章的正面刻有以朝鲜风格画为背景的南大门城门楼,这是朝鲜的第一重点文物。纪念章的背面是南朝鲜奥委会徽章。
International Olympic Committee and Seoul Olympic Games Organizing Committee has approved the 1988 Olympic medal, medal design. The medal of the athlete’s medal still follows the pattern that has been used since the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics, only changing the period to “1988”. The front of the medal is engraved with the Namdaemun Gate Tower in the style of Korean style painting, which is North Korea’s first key cultural relic. The back of the medal is the South Korean Olympic Committee badge.
