在艰苦卓绝的抗日战争时期,英雄的五台山人民,在中国共产党的领导下,在八路军的带领下,抱着抗日救国的坚强决心,展开了广泛持久的斗争,创建了全国第一个敌后抗日根据地,为中国人民抗日战争的胜利,作出了历史性贡献。五台山为华北屋脊,五峰耸立,千嶂环护;崇山峻岭,锁着深沟巨壑;叠翠回峦,嶂着百重峻岭。这样天造地设的地理形势,是开展游击战的理想之地。因此,在五台山创建敌后抗日根据地,是我军的既定方针。
