The engine introduces very thin gas (typically 50% to 100% excess air) into the main combustion chamber, while the pre-chamber introduces a small amount of the richer gas. After compression, the pre-chamber gas concentration reaches a stoichiometric mixing ratio. Once the pre-combustion chamber gas ignition spark ignition, combustion occurs rapidly, only a few degrees after the crankshaft flame jet into the main combustion chamber, the flame jet energy than the original spark energy several orders of magnitude. In fact, the pre-combustion chamber serves as an “energy amplifier” here, and the amplified energy is used to ignite the lean gas in the main combustion chamber.
