1 Case Objective The Missouri-owned real estate portfolio includes about 32 million square feet of land and hundreds of buildings that cost 300 million U.S. dollars a year to operate and maintain existing buildings. As energy costs and real estate costs continue to rise, and backlog of maintenance orders, the state announced in 2005 a plan to reduce nationwide energy use by 15% by 2010. Johnson Controls is responsible for implementing the project’s design, management and construction under a performance contract that promises energy savings, providing a range of sustainable planning initiatives, including manpower and technology, to optimize the state’s building facilities for approximately 1,000 Storied architecture upgrades facility, control and information management systems and provides a platform for building information management systems as a unified portal for different applications.
