John Keats, a 19th century romantic poet in the United Kingdom, is a master of Aestheticism whose name is written on the water. In this paper, some ideas of Kant’s philosophical system, the founder of classical philosophy in Germany, are used to analyze the aesthetic characteristics of Keats’s poetry. These concepts are mainly about the duality of human beings, the objectification of beauty, the aesthetic ability, and the greatness of cognition. By illustration method, Kant’s philosophy can properly explain the aesthetic characteristics of Keats’s poems. These characteristics can be summed up mainly as follows: The poet must have the object sensibility, not the literature as the means of profit; keep the esthetical distance from the worldly customs; the feeling of the beauty can make people’s duality be harmonious; the human cognition, especially the imagination The great, beyond the senses; aesthetic can make people get rid of the shackles of function, to reach beyond the realm.
