The activity and selectivity of supported Ni catalyst in the partial oxidation of CH 4 to syngas can be compared with that of noble metal catalyst Rh, but there is a problem of coke inactivation. Carbon deposition mainly comes from the carbon formed by CH 4 decomposition. The morphology of the coke deposited on the catalyst was studied by means of electron microscopy.In this paper, the sequential pulse experiment was used to analyze the carbon species formed by CH_4 decomposition on Ni / Al_2O_3 catalyst and its conversion behavior under the experimental conditions
