1 用英语表示一个人的“年龄”时，可以用以下表达：
　　Hes ten （years old） / Hes ten years of age 他10岁。
　　How old is he？/ Whats his age？/ What age is he？他多大年纪？
　　I have a son （of） your age / I have a son the same age of you 我有一个像你这样大的儿子。
　　Their ages are ten and twelve 他们的年龄分别是10岁和12岁。
　　2 表示“在……年龄时”，英语通常用“at the age of 数字”，注意其中的 the 习惯上不能换成 ones。如：
　　He got married at the age of 25 他25岁结婚。
　　He lost his sight at the age of three 他3岁时失明。
　　She was still beautiful at the age of forty 她到了40岁仍然很美。
　　I had to learn a trade at the age of seven 我在7岁时就不得不去学做生意。
　　注意，尽管英语习惯上不说 at ones age of ...，但却可说 at ones age，其意为“在某人的年龄时”。如：
　　At your age you should know better 你这个年纪应该比较明白事理了。
　　3 at the age of 引出的短语主要作状语，但有时也用作表语。如：
　　His first appearance on stage was at the age of three 他3岁时初次登台（演出）。
　　4 汉语中的“他年纪大（轻）”，在英语中不能直译为：His age is old （young） 可译为：He is old （young）
　　同样地，英语中通常说 at the early age of 30 （年仅30岁），一般不说 at the young age of 30。
　　不过，有趣的是，尽管英语通常不说 young age，但却可以说 old age（老年）和 middle age（中年）。如：
　　Who is going to look after them in their old age？ 他们年老的时候谁来照顾他们呢？
　　A person of 40 has reached middle age 一个人满了40岁就算进入了中年。
　　5 单独使用的 age 有时可表示“老年”，此时只用作不可数名词。如：
　　His face was wrinkled with age 他的脸因苍老而起皱。
　　6 含有 age 的几个重要惯用表达：
　　（1） look ones age 容貌与年龄相称
　　She doesnt look her age at all 她一点儿也不像那么大年纪（显得年轻得多）。
　　（2） over age 超龄
　　He was not eligible for theexamination because he was over age 他不够资格参加考试，因为他已超龄了。
　　（3） under age 不足年龄
　　You shouldnt sell cigarettes to teenagers who are under age 你不应该把香烟卖给没到岁数的青少年。
