As the temperature of the reactor must reach 100 million degrees Celsius, Inconel is the material of choice for the manufacture of reactor components. Princeton University melting test reactor parts are made of Inconel (Figure 1). To cut Inconel is very difficult, and this material is only sheet. It has been proven that it is most effective to cut this material with an old-fashioned cutting method, which is tribo-cutting. Mechanical Precisionc, New Jersey’s machine shop, mills and polishes all reactor parts made of pure molybdenum and 304 stainless steel. When it was to process 75 parts made of Inconel, it was handed over to the sawing machine maker DoALL.
