50年代中期开始,发达资本主义国家经过了艰维的医治战争创伤时期,进入了高速增长的新阶段。资本主义国家经济的飞跃发展,向人们提出了重新认识资本主义的问题。1959年,都留重人在他编写的《对现代资本主义的再研究》一书中,开始了对现代资本主义理论问题的探对。相隔20余年以后,1982年作者又在一桥大学经济研究所对他的观点作了进一步系统的说明,提出和阐述了“社会资本主义”论。现根据作者《体制变革的政治经济学》(1983年)一书,将其观点编译如下。
