In recent years, great attention has been paid to the potential effects of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) on excitatory nerve conduction in the bladder in a variety of animals. We have reported that intravenous injection of GABA to urethane anesthetized rats temporarily suppresses micturition reflex in a bimeido-sensitive manner. For adult rats, GABA appears to have no significant effect on postganglionic excitatory nerve conduction. GABA may cross the blood-brain barrier due to low doses of intravenous GABA, and it is assumed that under our experimental conditions, GABA attenuates nerve conduction at the level of the pelvic ganglia. Interestingly, Taniyama et al described in isolated guinea pig bladder GABA on postoperative excitatory nerve conduction gall bladder facial composition of a pupae alkaline sensitive
