The addition of a nitrogen-containing compound to the FeCl_3-i-C_4H_9) _3Al catalytic system showed no significant increase in the catalytic activity of butadiene polymerization. The nitrogen-containing compounds that form a five-membered chelating ring with Fe have the following sequence of activities:
