Liu Yong (1719-1840) is a significant calligrapher during emperors Qian long and Jiaqing’s reign. He is regarded as one of the four masters in middle Qing dynasty together with Weng Fanggang, Cheng Qinwang and Tie Xiu. As Liu Yong is famous for calligraphy, there are lots of forged works and ghostwritten works. The author tries to analyze features of his works from several points: school of his calligraphy, characteristics of his inscriptions, his habits of using seals, ghostwriters, and so on. Meanwhile, the author also explains methods of distinguishing Liu Yong’s works by giving some examples.
