Oil and gas production in the Appalachian Basin has entered the mature, water-sensitive oil recovery stage. Many wells have been produced for over 25 years. Most reservoir wells have been in use for 40 years or more. Common problems in these wells are the following: Limiting choke, valves or tubing, which obscure those that have been corroded. Faulty or unsuitable wellhead assembly and repair and replacement of the connection components at the top of the casing. A common practice is to use a coiled tubing (CT) with an expanded packer that goes through a throttling device into a well casing. In order to workover at the wellhead. These tools are not only expensive but also bring stability and safety issues to the old bushing. There is an alternative method of using CT to fill the cross-linked polymer slugs to ensure that the formation is protected from killing fluids used to isolate formation pressure during workover.
