In 1994, Chinese young man Yang Zhiyuan and his friend David Ferro, who were studying at the Stanford University for Ph.D., deeply felt the inconvenience of searching for information on the Internet. Although the Internet is indeed all over the place, it is possible to find oneself. The need was another matter. Yang Zhiyuan and his friend David Filo came up with an idea to use the university’s supercomputer to build a database with a well-structured database, set up a site, sort information online, and form a Zhang online “guide map” to facilitate the user’s data query. One night in the middle of the summer, Yang Zhiyuan and Filo hid in a small room named for their website, to accompany them is a big dictionary. As Yang Zhi Yuan’s name begins with Y, so the dictionary is first turned to Y. In the eyes of two young people who have no commercial purpose, the better the website’s name, the better.
