绝大多数中小型轴流泵站,采用矩形开敞式进水池,其结构简单,施工方便。但是由于进水池各部位尺寸,均采用水泵厂说明书所提供的数据,经试验表明,这些数据均偏大,不但浪费材料,加大土方开挖量,增加工程造价,而且当泵站进水位较低时,容易产生表面漩涡,影响水泵效率,严重时引起机组气蚀、振动甚至无法工作。将用于大型泵站的肘形进水流道引用到中小型轴流泵站,与开敞式矩形和涡壳形进水池对比,经三年多来的反复试验,现已取得良好的试验成果,为新建和改造轴流泵站提供依据,
