Researchers at the NTT Optoelectronics Laboratory in Tokai, Japan, demonstrated 1010 channel filters that could be used for optical telecommuting, believing it would make ultra-dense networks possible. The device was reported by IEEE Photonics Technology Letters last June. They put 10 1 × 160 arrayed waveguide grating with 10GHz channel spacing and 1 × 10 arrayed waveguide grating with 1THz channel spacing
