今年4月16日,敬爱的老师吴素萱教授离开我们整整十个年头了,但她生前的一切仍然十分清晰地呈现在我们的眼前,经常引起我们的回忆与怀念。兢兢业业、一生献给科学事业吴老师曾多次向我们讲述,她从小就热爱自然科学,对自然界的生命现象非常感兴趣。1925—1930年,她在南京中央大学攻读生物学。1931—1937年,先后在北京大学生物系和南京中央大学生物系从事教学和研究工作。1937—1941年,赴美国密西根大学研究院深造,获博士学位。回国后,先后任昆明西南联大和北京大学生物系教授。1948—1949年,以特约教授的身份到英国牛津大学和爱丁堡大学讲学及从事细胞学实验研究,并考察英国生物学的科研情况。新中国成立后,1950—1954年,继续担任北京大学生物系教授;从1955年起,受聘为中国科学院植物研究所研究员,直至她生命的最后一息,她都在为发展祖国的科学事业勤勤恳恳、孜孜不倦地工作着。吴老师在科研工作上主要是从
