黑龙江省牡丹峰(又名东村)自然保护区是1981年经省政府批准建立的,它是我国少见的城郊型的综合性的自然保护区,距牡丹江市仅有15公里。地理座标是东经129°40′30″129°50′50″,北纬44°20′—44030′30″。地处老爷岭山脉西端、东过穆陵河为太平岭,西过牡丹江为张广才岭保护区内有复杂多样的森林类型,有原生树种的云冷杉为主和以红松为主的针阔叶混交林、有柞木林、自桦林、杂木林及过伐林、是东北地区森林演替规律的一个缩影,
