When it comes to syllables in modern Chinese, remember to talk about such phenomena as the phrase “they’ve just eaten,” saying “just” to the sentence as “they have just eaten.” But “they just Eaten ”can not be said as“ they just had eaten. ”For all the above-mentioned phenomena, we all think that we can explain from syllables, and we can just stand by expanding“ Gang ”into two-syllable. The impression is that the monosyllable at the beginning of the sentence does not stand, or rather, the syllable can not normally appear before the subject-predicate structure (as in the previous example, “They Have Eaten”). This explanation can be further demonstrated from the rhythm of syllables. Phonetic rhythm and music rhythm have the same basis, according to the usual sense of language, in syllables, syllables are more stable, monosyllable more lively, and often follow a pause. For example, “believing that the masses believe the party” is a typical seven-character rhythm in modern Chinese that can be labeled as “××××××××× ○” without any obvious pause in the middle. If “believing that the party believes in the masses” The rhythm will be “×× × × × × × ×”, in the middle due to the monosyllabic “party”, followed by a pause .According to this law, “they just eat” rhythm form at the beginning As “×× | ×× | ......”, very smooth; and “just eat them” became “× ○ | ×× | ......”, the beginning of the monosyllabic and monosyllables sentence is not the same , It is also in front of a pause, it appears abrupt, not easy to follow.
