京郊日光温室是近二、三年才发展起来的。一般在9月-11月及次年3月-5月間因气温較高,室内多种植瓜果类蔬菜。但从小雪到惊墊的100多天中因天气寒冷,日光温室保温能力很低,不但喜温的果菜类不能生長,即使耐寒性較强的叶菜类,如菠菜、茼蒿、油菜等,生長速度亦极其緩慢,一般需要50天-70天,这样3个多月的严寒期中只能种1-2茬。所以如何提高日光温室的效能,縮短蔬菜生長期,增加复种面积成为当前迫切的任务。鑑于上述情况,农大园艺試驗站在严寒时期,于日光温室内增加加温設备,即在靠近玻璃处添置土爐灶,每隔3間設一明火,或每隔4間設一有无管烟道的暗火,并在爐口处
