田纳西·威廉斯是美国二战后最著名的戏剧家之一。他以美国南方为背景,通过刻画一系列在现实社会中遭遇打击而走向毁灭的人物形象,展现了处于转型期和文化断层期的南方社会现实。威廉斯对这些被社会毁灭的人物的塑造在他熟悉的“疯癫”中找到了合适的表达方式。威廉斯在创作中以“疯癫”与南方文化之间的动态型关系作为关照点进行现代性批判,对“疯癫”主题的探索彰显了威廉斯对理性主体、无意识非理性主体和主体间性在现代语境中的人文关怀。
Tennessee Williams is one of the most famous theater writers in the United States after World War II. Based on the background of the South of the United States, he portrays a series of characters destructed in the real world by demonstrating a series of realities in the South as a result of the transitional period and the culturally fractured period.
