The scalability of ATM has been specifically devised by the ATM Forum’s MPOA (multiprotocol over ATM) protocol, which is based on the upcoming Gigabit Ethernet standard. Both of these standards are designed to increase throughput. But users have not been able to wait for the improvement of these two standards, so there are two new applications, Web and OLAP (online transaction processing) to change the network transmission mode.
