长期以来画界现代水墨和新文人画等自由化而混乱,缺乏一个衡定标准和主导方向,这种现象于社会转型中观念的转变中探索是必要的,可以开拓新的路径学习西方,而回归传统也是有效路径之一。对于传统之理解多偏于写意水墨,有所偏颇,而源头可追溯到南北宗论中,这里南北宗论作为前代文人画之总结及由顶峰走向下坡的开始,有必要去整理清楚,此项工作对现实仍有指导意义。自南北宗论提出之后,绘画传统中北宗一脉渐没落,从风格境界到技法都被忽视,而南宗理论也被继承者走偏,技法精神皆有所失,本文认为,北宗之清俊刚健同样是当下所需要的一种精神,而其法度之精工则更是现在所需要强调的,画法相通只是寄寓有所不同,因而倡导南北融合,再适当结合民间画与西方画法之技巧,希望画界能得以振兴。
