在淮海战役的古战场、一座新兴的河南省现代化地方矿井——新庄煤矿正在崛起。新庄矿位于豫东平原的豫、皖、苏三省交界处,永城煤田的东部。西傍京九铁路、北傍陇海铁路、东临京沪铁路、淮河支流沱河穿矿区而过。井田总面积15km~2,东西走向长3km、南北倾斜长5km,地质储量为1亿t、可采储量为6500万t,深部还有3500万t备用储量,煤质属低灰、特低硫、特低磷、高发热量(7000大/卡kg以上)的优质无烟煤。
